Review

Achren I was a little concerned about how I would review this single. How can you base an opinion of a band on one song? Then I realised that this is pretty much what I do whenever I hear a song on the radio, see a video on TV or hear a song at a pub/venue/elsewhere. So, all in all, this shouldn't be too difficult, right?

Thankfully, I'd reviewed Achren's EP not-too-long ago, so I had a rough idea of what to expect. Or, so I thought. Achren's EP is an awesome piece of work and I really didn't expect this single to be able to top it... but it does.

As soon the track started I realised that Achren had made the task of reviewing very easy for me. Very easy indeed. There's just such a large scope of things to write about - and all this from one song. Blimey!

The drums in "Blood Soaked Banner" are feverishly fast and provoke an unbelievable urge to move in the listener. The bagpipes (or synthesized bagpipes - I don't know!) are an excellent touch and serve to bring home the idea that you're about to go into battle. The vocals are truly captivating.

The band are set to play in Croydon very soon and I'm keen to see if they have this sort of energy on stage as well!
