Review

Sol Asunder Since buying this album several months ago, "Horribly Human" has become one of my favourites. I simply cannot count the times that I've found myself listening to it on my journeys to and from work (and often while I'm at work!). I find it perfect for blocking out other people's mundane conversations.

The arrangements of the songs on this album give quite a big nod to the world of hardcore. Usually this would be a bit of a turn off for me, but lately I've found myself warming to the genre. There's also the fact that Sol Asunder combine it with Death Metal so damn well that I can't help but like it. I feel I should point out that although I have mentioned the hardcore element here, Sol Asunder are not what I'd consider to be a hardcore band - they definitely seem to have more in common with bands of the more metal ilk.

Sol Asunder are one of the 13 bands that kindly donated a track to the recent Loucifer Speaks album. I ended up choosing the title track to represent them, but on this album every track is a winner and I could have easily picked "The Element", "Beneath The Surface" or "Redeemer".

One of my absolute favourite tracks on the album is the very aptly titled "Hate Fueled Anger" (it's apt because it matches the way I feel about my 'real' job at the moment). This track has an incredibly full and 'live' sound and it just begs for you to lose control while listening to it.

As I have proved on numerous occasions, "Horribly Human" is an album that can be listened to again and again (and again!) without ever feeling over-played or dull. I can't wait to hear what the band have in store for us next!
