Review

Dirt Mall Soul Destruction play the kind of music that I think will go down really well at any of the rock nights that are local to me. It's made to be played loud, it's packed full of vocal hooks that will have you singing/shouting along with glee and the kind of chunky riffs that get everyone on the dancefloor. The only problem that I have with it is that at times it's a little too industrial for me. I'm not really a fan of the Industrial genre, so whenever I'm asked to review a band that plays that kind of music, I'm always faced with that hurdle.

Even though the industrial element may not be my kind of thing, I didn't have to worry because Soul Destruction aren't a one-trick pony. The metal part of their sound is very strong and, as I touched upon before, it's very difficult not to get caught up in it. The constant tempo changes keep the listener interested and each song left me wondering what the band could possibly do in the next song to 'out-do' the last one. The best example of this was in "A Little Less of Someone Else?".

I have to admit that if I hadn't been sent "There's No Profit In Truth", I probably wouldn't have ever listened to it... and I would have missed out. Even though I still think there are things that Soul Destruction could improve upon (I found the odd lyric here and there to be a little predictable), I'd still recommend this CD.
