Review:

So here we are - my first book review for Loucifer Speaks. It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here.

I first discovered Brian Keene when I bought, and subsequently read, "Dead Sea". That book is an incredibly pessimistic zombie story and it's the lack of hope that really makes it stand out. So, when I saw "Dark Hollow" for sale in my local book shop, I snapped it up immediately.

At first I was a little bit sceptical - the story did seem a little far-fetched even for my overactive imagination. I mean, the story centres around a satyr (you know the things with a goat's head and legs and a bloke's body) in the woods - how on Earth am I meant to take that seriously?

And, yet, I did. Keene knows how to write a compelling story that hooks you in from the starting blocks and you find yourself making an immediate connection with the characters. I was rooting for Big Steve the dog (yes, the dog!) all the way through!

Keene is descriptive, but doesn't ever over do it. Based on what I've read of his books so far, they're perfect for it you want an instantly accessible horror story. You won't find yourself trawling through pages upon pages of description, but diving right in to where the action is.
